Its ancient origins go back to prehistoric times, so those who are in love with history will also fall in love with Javea. As many other Spanish towns, Javea has a turbulent past, with numerous occupations. During its centuries, Javea was occupied by the Romans (who also made sure that Javea stands on the map of fish ports, as well as mineral ports), the Visigoths and the Christians. The Moors also ruled over Javea for a few centuries, so you should expect an original architectural style, with lots of influences. The Old Town has a very special charm, so make sure you offer it some of your time. While in Javea, also visit the Sant Bartolome Gothic Church, dating back to the 14th century or the narrow streets which will take you into a world in which the Gothic architecture rules.

Other attractions in Javea

Sightseeing is definitely not the only attraction in Javea. The terrace restaurants have a very special ambience that you have to try, as well as delicious Mediterranean dishes that will nourish all your senses. The sandy, long beaches represent the perfect place for those who just want to relax for a few hours and even get a nice tan. Those who love music can listen to live performances until late in the night, while those who prefer a more agitated nightlife should choose one of the numerous clubs. I am sure that you will love Javea!
